10 QUESTIONS WITH TOM RYNDERS

An opportunity to get to know our QLS Accredited Specialist (Personal Injuries), partner and litigation team member,

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself

I was born in Toowoomba and attended grade 1 and 2 at St Thomas More's. I moved to Brisbane to complete my schooling (Marist Ashgrove) and university (QUT).

2. What are your hobbies?

I surf and go trail bike riding and am a very average triathlete. I also try to spend some time in the bush every year to get away from busy life as a solicitor.

3. Do you have any pets?

Yes, George - an almost 1 year old very mischievous gold retriever. He chews everything.

4. Where will you travel first once we have travel bubbles overseas?

We had a trip booked to Europe (Italy, France, Spain) so I’d love the chance to get back there at some stage.

5. When were you admitted as a solicitor?

2 November 2009

6. Who moved your admission?

Scott Lynch, barrister.

7. What was your first job in the law?

I worked for Creevey Russell one day a week, assisting with criminal compensation applications under the old scheme where applications were heard by the Courts.

8. What would be your proudest moment in your career?

Our team has achieved some fantastic results for people who were seriously injured through no fault of their own – two of them received settlements in excess of $10 million. That money will ensure those people are looked after for the rest of their lives.

9. What do you enjoy most about being a solicitor?

I find helping individuals who have lost everything very rewarding. Being a solicitor is more than just a job. Many clients really depend on your assistance to genuinely make better of a bad situation.

10. What does the future hold for ‘Creevey Russell Lawyers’?

We’ve got some fantastic staff and achieved some great results, particularly in the last two years. As we grow, I hope we can further integrate the practice into rural Queensland to give people in the bush access to very good legal representation.
